2002 cymbals are made from CuSn8 bronze, an alloy Paiste first used in 1963. These instruments work well in live and studio environments that require high energy levels without sacrificing warmth, musicality or precision. 2002's are ideal for drummers and percussionists who enjoy expressing a significant portion of their sound with cymbal colors. They can best be described as bright, warm, heavy and decidedly energetic with powerful projection characteristics. The original 2002 sound evolved during the 60's and 70's, when numerous Paiste players used them to create the era's rich Rock, Jazz, Fusion and Country heritage. Today's 2002 retains the core elements of the original classics, which remain essentially unchanged since their inception in 1971.

Originally introduced in 1967, this series was reintroduced in 2005
Paiste developed the Formula 602 in the late 1950's from the traditional 20% Bronze, a cymbal line rooted in Jazz and acoustic Rock'n'roll that exhibits a cool, rich, sophisticated sound character and gains us the first wave of international notoriety - Yet the company does not rest, experiments with CuSn8 bronze alloy, and pioneers CuSn8 cymbals in 1963 - Around the same time, the world is experiencing the rapid expansion of Rock music, which emerges forcefully from the foundations of Blues, Folk, Country and Rock'n'Roll as bands like the Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Animals, Beatles, Kinks and the Who take the stage - The electrified sound they generate is groundbreaking - Popular music, simply stated, becomes loud and irreverent - The new bronze alloy Paiste is already working with turns out to be perfect for the new soundscape with its amplified volume and frequencies - In 1967 Paiste launches Giant Beat cymbals, which are characterized by warmth, strength and brilliance such as drummers had not known before.
These cymbals are great for Working Musicians, Enthusiasts - Drummers eager to re-capture Paiste vintage cymbal sounds from the late 60's.

Over 70 years ago, Paiste started producing cymbals by means of traditional hand craftsmanship using a defined sound concept and strict quality standards - a pioneering accomplishment that has substantially determined today's standards for cymbals. Today, Paiste is the only first rate cymbal manufacturer who still uses this ancient method exclusively for cymbals in the professional class.
They cultivate the meticulous process of crafting cymbals by hand in their Swiss production facility. This is the basis for our deep knowledge and experience about the nature of cymbal shape and structure that lead to a gratifying sound.
For the manufacture of affordable cymbals with ample quality we use modern,
hi-tech production techniques in their German production facility. The decisive
objective in this effort is the successful transfer of the spirit and essence of
our Swiss knowledge about sound to such manufacturing methods.
Therefore, they primarily strive for the successful realization of the hand
manufacture achievements in their modern, technical production. They are
pioneers in this field as well, based on their 25 year experience with
technological production.
They occupy themselves continuously and intensively with the application of modern technology and the development of technological processes. Thanks to modern digital technology, Paiste have now achieved a breakthrough which permits them a significant improvement in the transfer Swiss principles concerning shape, structure and sound to their German production process.
The results of these intensive efforts are our new Paiste Sound Technology
cymbals - PST 3 and PST 5. With these series Paiste can present affordable
cymbals with never before realized sound quality and professional appearance.
Paiste Sound Technology cymbals are the perfect starting point to enter the
incomparable world of Paiste sound.
For the manufacture of PST 5 cymbals we use the same high-grade bronze alloy as in our professional class, which became famous through our 2002 series. The combination of this sonorous bronze with the new production method provides drummers with new sound dimensions, and due to the rich program, with numerous possibilities to design an individual cymbal set.
